This illustration was created during an online drawing session hosted by creaTO, a Latinx-inspired creative community in Toronto. The theme, ‘Food for the Soul: Favourite Foods from Home,’ inspired a depiction of a common Salvadoran scene: a pupusera (pupusa maker) enjoying a traditional pupusa, a beloved dish from El Salvador.

Linocut designs from a Printmaking class at Seneca College were incorporated into the textile of the pupusera's huipil, a traditional embroidered blouse worn by women in Central America. This element reflects the artist's heritage and underscores the importance of visibility in the work.

The vibrant colour palette draws from the rich culture of El Salvador, with influences from Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort and Guatemalan vector artist Muxxi.
